AI visibility tools compared vendor by vendor

Thirteen tools, with published pricing checked at the source and a detailed comparison for each. They overlap, but they start from different jobs: this page covers who each option serves, what it is built to do, and where Robot Visible takes a different approach.

The short answer

Most of these tools measure. They tell you which prompts you are missing from, across how many brands, markets, and models. That is genuinely useful and it is where the category began.

Choose a monitoring platform when measuring at that breadth is the job. Choose an SEO suite when you also need a large keyword and backlink database. Choose Robot Visible when the measurement is not the hard part: when you need to see which page won the answer instead of yours, act on it, and hold evidence of what happened next.

Pricing at a glance

Feature and workflow comparison

Most platforms now monitor mentions and citations. The more useful differences are where each workflow starts, how it turns evidence into action, and what it measures afterwards.

Common questions about AI visibility tools

How much do AI visibility tools cost?

Dollar-priced entry tiers run from $20/month (Rankscale Essentials) to $800/month (Evertune Pro), checked on 19 July 2026, with most self-serve plans between $29 and $99 and mid-market tiers between $250 and $500. Trakkr bills £79/month, Ahrefs from £99/month and Peec AI €85/month, which cannot be slotted into that dollar range without a conversion. Enterprise platforms price by quote. Robot Visible publishes Monitor at £29/month and Fix & Prove at £99/month, plus a free scan.

What is the cheapest AI visibility tool?

Rankscale's Essentials tier from $20/month is the lowest published dollar price among the tools compared here, with OtterlyAI at $29/month next and Knowatoa at $59/month the cheapest allowing unlimited sites on one account. Trakkr (£79) and Peec AI (€85) bill in other currencies and are not directly rankable against those. Robot Visible scans one site free with no account before any paid plan starts.

Are there any free AI visibility tools?

Several free options exist as checked on 19 July 2026. Robot Visible scans one site free without an account. AthenaHQ's Essential plan is free with $25 of credit. Ahrefs publishes a free tier. Trakkr offers a 14-day free trial across all plans, and Semrush offers free trials on its paid tiers. Kelsey runs a free scan with no card required. Free tiers generally cap prompts, sites or engines, so treat them as a baseline rather than a full deployment.

Which AI visibility tool is best for agencies?

Rankscale and Peec AI are the strongest agency fits. Rankscale's Growth ($385/month) and Enterprise ($780/month) plans include 50 and 100 brand dashboards with white-label reporting and REST API access. Peec AI scales on projects and countries. Knowatoa is the cheapest portfolio option at $59/month with unlimited sites. Scrunch AI runs an Agency Core tier at $500/month, and Kelsey's Agency plan is $499/month for 5 websites with white-label reports.

Which AI visibility tool is best for a small business or founder?

The realistic shortlist at low volume is OtterlyAI ($29/month), Knowatoa ($59/month), Trakkr (£79/month) and Robot Visible (free scan, then £29/month). Enterprise platforms like Profound, Scrunch AI, BrightEdge and Evertune are priced and built for marketing organisations, and their entry tiers tend to be restrictive rather than cheap. Profound's $99/month Starter plan, for example, tracks ChatGPT only.

Do AI visibility tools fix your website, or just report on it?

Most report. OtterlyAI, Peec AI, Knowatoa, Rankscale and the SEO suites identify gaps and recommend changes, but implementation stays with your team. Kelsey produces content briefs and Trakkr generates finished articles, both of which you still publish yourself. Scrunch AI can serve simplified content to agents at the CDN edge. Robot Visible's Fix & Prove plan prepares the change as a draft GitHub pull request or Shopify update and verifies it once live.

Do I need an AI visibility tool if I already use Semrush or Ahrefs?

Check which plan you are on first. Ahrefs Brand Radar is included across Ahrefs' main plans from £99/month, but Semrush's entry SEO tier at $139.95/month excludes AI features entirely, with AI tracking starting at $199/month or $99/month per domain as a standalone plan. If your existing plan already covers it, a second subscription for the same reporting job is hard to justify. A dedicated tool earns its place when you need per-answer citation evidence, or when the blocker is implementing and proving fixes.

Non-platform alternatives

A traditional SEO audit

Good for

Mature, content-heavy sites that need broad technical SEO, keyword, backlink, and organic-ranking analysis.

Limitation

It may not preserve question-level AI answers, mentions, citations, cited URLs, and provider-specific changes over time.

Checking manually

Good for

A quick investigation when you already understand robots.txt, canonicals, rendering, structured data, server logs, and answer variability.

Limitation

Manual checks are difficult to reproduce consistently and do not create a durable baseline for prioritisation or post-change proof.

How this comparison was prepared

Every price on these pages was copied from the vendor’s own published pricing page and carries the date it was checked; the most recent review was 16 August 2026. Where a vendor publishes no pricing, we say so rather than reproducing an unverifiable third-party estimate. Products and prices change quickly, so the linked provider pages remain the source of truth. This page compares product focus and published packaging; it does not claim that one platform controls or guarantees inclusion in AI-generated answers.

The rules we follow when publishing a competitor’s prices, and a permanent dated log of every correction we have made, are on our methodology and corrections page.

Where Robot Visible fits

Robot Visible organises the work around three distinct states: whether a site is eligible to be found, whether it has a competitive source for the buyer question, and whether a live answer actually mentioned, recommended, or cited it. The product then recommends the next fix and, where supported, prepares a reviewable GitHub or Shopify change before checking the public result.
